Do you have any ideas/suggestions on how to get around this error? We have several PC Avid suites and one Mac Avid suite, and our normal practice when a project was completed is to consolidate it to an external drive to go into storage, allowing us to clear off the internal drives for the next project. So, we have a collection of NTFS drives that we can't use on the Mac, and because the Mac to PC ratio is 4:1, formatting HFS+ for everything and purchasing MacDrive four times over is not much of a solution.

Also, you might be interested to know that it appears MacFUSE (open source app from Google) plus the open-source NTFS-3G driver (originally for Linux) appears to allow full NTFS read/write support on the Mac.:-) However, it still suffers from this error, as does trying to consolidate to network drives. So, at the moment, we have almost no way of getting the projects off the Mac (apart from consolidating to the local drive and then copying off to the external drive, though that's messy too.) Any suggestions or comments would be most welcome. Really is starting to get in the way now. Sorry, system specs (how inconsiderate of me:-) Mac Pro running OS X 10.4.10 and using Avid Xpress Pro, no Mojo. Ming xi fall.

Just upgraded from 5.7.3 to 5.7.7 hoping it would fix this (at least 5.7.7 doesn't crash out completely like 5.7.3, just gives this error.) Quicktime 7.2.0. Tried a 120GB external HDD, formatted as: - FAT32 (on the Mac, so it magically overcomes the 32GB partition limit - not quite sure what they've done to achieve that.) - NTFS, using NTFS-3G + MacFUSE, as mentioned. HFS+, which is the only one that works. Thanks for that - might yet be another option. However, are you able to confirm whether or not the 'operation not supported' errors occur when using it and exporting/consolidating from Avid?

If it still has that issue, then it is not really any better than the (free) NTFS-3G+MacFUSE option. For us, it wouldn't really be worth spending money on a product that does what we can already do with a free one, unless of course we know it is going to do it better (i.e. Cheers for the tip though - will keep it in mind.
