Unable to connect to HP BIOS WMI namespace: root HP InstrumentedBIOS. See Q: The BIOS Configuration Utility (BCU) is an HP utility, so why it does not work on some HP platforms? For additional information. Q: The BIOS Configuration Utility (BCU) is an HP utility, so why it does not work on some HP platforms? A: BCU is a command-line utility for controlling various BIOS settings on a supported HP notebook, desktop, or workstation system. It requires a BIOS that supports HP WMI Namespace within the BIOS. HP began integrating CMI/WMI support directly into the BIOS during approximately 2006–2008 for managed business systems, which did not include consumer-based systems or entry-level units.

If the system BIOS does not have the required WMI support, BCU does not work. This is not a failure of BCU. It is a limitation of the system BIOS that does include WMI support in the BIOS code.' Okay i tried to unlock the MPM, copied SMC.bat to a formatted FAT32 USB Stick and hold WINODOWS Arrow up and down but the system gave me a SMC COMMAND FAILURE.

I googled the SMC Command Failure and came across this which seems to have similar characteristics to your problem. The difference being is that there was eventual success. It may be worth a quick read before you give up. And also ' When trying to get into the BIOS of an HP ElitePad, you get this error: SMC command failure The SMC command failure occurs when a USB device, docking station or some other peripheral doesn’t play nicely with the HP ElitePad.

To work around this, unplug everything from the HP ElitePad adn try again.' ##### vladpetz wrote: 'I tried to create a bootable usb-stick with rufus and copied all files from HPDU folder on it. Tried to boot, but it doesnt recognize the usb stick.

Of course booting from legacy device is not possible if you have secure boot UEFI enabled. Disable in BIOS secure boot, read instructions below. Then USB flash memory is recognized by the computer and you can boot from it. Disabling Secure Boot on older model notebook computers Disabling Secure Boot on recent model notebook computers #####.
