Bill - William M. Smith (Microsoft Interop MVP). Hello: I'm a Mac user and have been for about 2 years. I've been using Microsoft for Mac all that time and upgraded to 2008 about a month ago. Today, all of a sudden, I can not access my mail and get the message 'Authentication failed because Entourage doesn't support any of the available authentication methods.

Error: -17897.' I've gone over my account settings, spent about 30 minute on the phone with my provider and nothing. I've tried my Mac Mail and it works but I really like Entourage. Can anyone help me? Thanks Allan Meltzer jigti. Hi all Thanks in advance for your help in this matter.

I currently have an Excel form (in the lightest of terms) that pulls information from an Access 2000 db using a macro. This form allows users to view data for two separate entries from the same database. This enables them to see the data side by side, to enter/modify data (which uses formulae to recalculate totals), and to submit their additions/changes back into the database. Each side is independant (this is that they do not calculate off of each other). I've been able to successfully create a query form that can do all of this, bu.

Infopath For Mac Users

Hey Everyone. Is it possible to integrate InfoPath w/ CRM 3.0? I see alot saying it is but not much follow up info.! We would like to use the InfoPath forms to input and draw from the CRM system.

Is this possible and if so, are there any resources out there to get more information? I guess its possible, Infopath is being profiled as a webservice interface for end users. But due to the nature of the Crm webservice I don't expect Infopath to be able to generate a form based on the webservice (In fact I tried an infopath just gave an operation failed error). You will pro.

Dear Expert, There seems to be an incompatibility between MS Word 2001 for Mac (for which I have run the latest updater) and the Color Stylewriter 1500 printer driver vZ2-2.2.1 which is part of the Mac OS 9.1 software. Unlike other components of Office 2001 and other applications such as MS Works 4.0, Claris Works etc which have A4 as an option in the pop-up menu for page size, with Word 2001 this is not available and so I have had to use the Custom button. However, having entered the A4 dimensions in the Custom button box, these are lost if I change the scaling and everything is returned.

I'm running a small network and upgraded all the users to OS.X and office v.X (from OS.9 and office 98). However, in only on of the computers on the network I get an error message saying that I exceeded the number of licences although I used different license keys.

Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - 331935 (exactly my problem) recommends installing an update but the problem was not resolved even after the update installation. Can anyone please help, any idea will be highly appreciated. I spent too many hours trying to resolve the issue with no success. Make sure you've applied. This message is in MIME format.

Thank regards, KK Great Plains stopped supporting the Macintosh many versions ago. If the Mac can run Windows then you might be able to use it that way.

Otherwise, the approach normally used is to use a Macintosh client to talk to a Citrix Metaframe server with Great Plains installed. Hope this helps.

I was told that it would be compatible - however, my computer can't even read the disk! I have tried the disk on macs in our computer lab at school and it works fine - these have an older version of OS.any ideas of how i can get this downloaded? They won't let me return the disk and my bookstore (since it's opened) and keep sending me to the school's computer hel.

Thanks in advanced, German Medina What Operating System?

This is more a win32 API question than a VC question, even though you will make the API function call from VC. 'German' wrote in message news:3270E167-651F-4641-BD01-1FEB91A18C4D@microsoft.com. Good Afternoon Team: What are the steps to get MAC Address from VisualC6.0?

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: Intel I have a number of documents made on a PC that include images - scanned, from the internet, etc. They look fine when opened by Word for PC, but when the same file is opened by me using Office 08 for Mac, some (not all) of the pictures appear absolutely minute, in the top left of the image box. The image box is still there, so the text alignment is not affected, but the rest of the text box is blank. I have even had a colleague open the file on her PC to show me the image is fine, then email me the same image - with the s.

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel I recently bought a MacBook Pro 15.4, 3.06GHz, 8GB RAM running Mac Excel 2008 (v12.2.3 091001). When I use Mac Excel 2008 to open '.XLS' excel files that I created in Windows Excel 2003 (11.6560.6568) SP2, all my pivot tables convert correctly but any REFERENCES to any fields within the pivot tables via GETPIVOTDATA do NOT show the valid values that Win Excel showed via EXACTLY THE SAME COMMAND.

Instead in Mac Excel 08 all such references have '#VALUE!' If I recieve infopath documents do i need infopath installed on my computer to use the information and export it to excel sheets? Any advice is much appreciated. We have purchased office Mac 2004 and want to install it on a macintosh 9.2 OS. The install doesn't start because OS is not right.

Can some one help me with the minimum OS requirements for this office version? Can I upgrade my OS? Office 98 and 2001 run on OS 9. Office X and Office 2004 run on OS X. Upgrading to OS X (aka Jaguar, Panther) is a serious undertaking that would require a lot of new software and probably extra memory for your computer, if it is even OS X compatible. You may want to wait to upgrade OSes until you buy a new computer, although OS 9 is now obsolete an. Hope someone in this group can help me.

Despite the update installer told me the updates were successfully, my excel won't be able to start anymore. When I checked the version of my excel, it stayed at 10.0.0! I wonder if anyone can send me the excel executable of version 10.1.x. Thanks very much. My 'Office Assistant' is a computer monitor, When I click on it to select a different 'Office Assistant' I find that my Office Assistant Gallery has only that option. Are more options available like in the Windows version? That's true, extra assistants are not included with Office 2004. However, if you happen to have an earlier version of Office that did include additional assistants, simply insert the old version's CD, navigate to Office CD/Value Pack/Assistants, and copy the assistant(s) you want to HD/Applications/Microsoft Office 2004/Office/Assistants. How do I attach a XSL to my InfoPath produced XML file? I am needing to design a form that we can gather information from clients. We use Sharepoint and want to make sure if using Infopath,Access and Sharepoint together is the best option.

The form will have combo boxes that the client can choose up to 10 selections in each field. The information needs to be stored in the customer database. If you can sync data between a customer Access database and SharePoint, it should work well. Starting with Access 2007, there are ways to get Access data using email, or customers can enter data directly into SharePoint. Arvin Meyer, MC.

It’s quite interesting that we have talked so much on the improved browser support in SharePoint 2010. But if you are a Mac user, you can rarely see a comprehensive list of what you can do and what you cannot with clear explanation.

If you search on the internet, you can find has a very good video here:. He went through nearly all the features with Office for Mac 2008. If you are a Mac user/admin and need to use SharePoint, it’s worth watching.

Virtualization would be another way to get around of the limitations. The official documentation for browser support is here:. Scroll down to the bottom of the page, you can find the limitations for Safari and Firefox on a non-Windows system (most of the time that means Mac). However, some of the information there may not be accurateor just confusing. So I will try to make it clear in this post Here’re some questions I collected during the past months, and the answers to them are based on my experience, not official support statement: Can Mac users use SharePoint 2010? Of course yes. Both Safari and Firefox are supported browsers of SharePoint 2010 because of the introduce of XHTML 1.0 in the product.

The limitations can be found in. However, there’re some mistakes in the language used in the article so please read on. Can SharePoint Admins manage SharePoint 2010 with Safari? Central Admin web site can be accessed by Safari and Firefox without any problem.

If you do have issues with OOTB Central Admin site, please check settings on your Mac and network – something is wrong there, not SharePoint. There’s no ActiveX controls to block you from doing any admin tasks. Of course, there’s no Windows PowerShell on a Mac so you cannot do the Windows PowerShell Remoting tasks, but that cannot stop you from using Remote Desktop for Mac to connect to those SharePoint Servers. Can I directly open Office file from SharePoint and save it back? Yes, although you will not have Read Only/Edit option to choose from before you open it in Office for Mac. The file will be opened as Read Only by default, and you can modify the file by click Edit. Then you can also save it back to the original location.

Can I upload file to SharePoint using Mac? Certainly you can. In the TechNet article there’s an item like this: File upload and copy: Requires an ActiveX control that is not support on this platform.

But this is invalid. File upload does not require an ActiveX control. What you cannot achieve is to use the Upload Multiple Documents options, see below. Can I upload multiple files to SharePoint using Mac? On the browser, no. Unless you use virtualization solutions with Internet Explorer, the Upload Multiple Documents menu item is disabled.

The reason behind this is the feature requires STS Upld ActiveX control. However, you can use Microsoft Document Connection to upload multiple files without any problem. Microsoft Document Connection, which was introduced in Office for Mac 2008 SP2, now is also a part of the Office for Mac 2011 installation. It can connect to both SharePoint sites and SkyDrive. Multiple file upload is simple with this application – just drag and drop them into the application then everything is done. The application itself can be seen as a very lite version of SharePoint Workspace, although it doesn’t do much beyond upload, read, edit, check in/check out.

You cannot delete a file, create a new folder, or edit its metadata properties in this app, and to get the latest update you need to hit Refresh button. Can I have Explorer View in Mac? Since how Windows/Mac plus all the browsers has different ways to handle this protocol, it is nearly impossible to have a standard way to implement it to work across different platform with native Explorer/Finder support. Microsoft Document Connection is a good client to replace this feature. How do I use Infopath/Onenote/Access/Visio, etcon SharePoint with Mac? Since these applications are not existing in current Office for Mac 2011 release, the only way to use them on Mac is to use virtualization. Alternatively, you can use Infopath Service, Onenote, Access Service and Visio Service on SharePoint with Safari/Firefox on Mac.

Office Web Apps also allows you to directly view/edit Office files without even install Office for Mac on the machine. (You need to have a Office client license to use Office Web Apps on SharePoint) Does Media Web Part work on Mac? You need to install SilverLight on Mac before it’s functional. Can I insert HTML5 video content to SharePoint so it can work with Mac? Upload the video to any document library and reference it in your video tag. Please note H.264 content will not work with Firefox since they didn’t implement the support.

See Here’s an example: The upper right video is from Media Web Part, while the lower left one is built with Content Editor Web Part with HTML5 tag. Since I have already installed Office for Mac 2011, can I use the features on the Ribbon such as Connect to Outlook, Excel, SharePoint Workspace, etc? Unfortunately no. These features uses ActiveX controls except Export to Excel. And for Export to Excel feature, since Excel for Mac does not have a good support for Web Query(.iqy), it is really hard to make it to work. I may need to dig into the details, but it seems like when you run saved query Excel failed to authenticate with SharePoint. Outlook for Mac does not have the ability to connect to SharePoint.

Can I edit SharePoint pages using Safari? I cannot do it with iPad or iPhone! Yes you can – This is fully supported. The mobile version of Safari is a trimmed down version of Safari - it does not support contentEditable property so it cannot be used with any rich text editing application. For details see Is there presence support if I installed Communicator for Mac? The presence information (green/yellow/red) is shown through an ActiveX control installed by Communicator(Lync) if you use Windows. But you can have presence indicator when you use Office clients such as Outlook for Mac.

I’ll try to update this post when I have more information Jie. I have been using Sharepoint on a Mac for some years now for a very tight communication between myself and a PC colleague. We work extensively on Word documents sharing the writing of them and having both up at the same time on the two platforms with few issues. We use Word 2010 and Word 2011 under Windows 8 and OSX 10.8 and also recent versions of these OSs. It basically works great. But there are issues. I can NEVER log off Document connection (DC) – always have to Quit with it telling me I have documents open for editing even if I have just booted up and just started DC.

I have tried booting out various preference files and similar but it always does this. I seem to have to log on far too often. Sometimes I will have to type my user name and password three or four times just to get a document. Again have tried deleting various files, rebooting the sharepoint server etc etc. To no avail.

It does not work with Excel. You can load and save files etc all good, but it breaks the linkages between Charts and Sheets, and between books where there are multiple books in a working environment.

That is the way i work so I am forced to use DropBox for all excel applications. The lack of file deletion and other features is a slight limitation but the Excel, password and lack of quit issues are a real pain Bob Jordan.
